On Tuesday June 8th, PCA honored its 2009 Center City Starr Award recipients, David Krietor, Deputy City Manager with the City of Phoenix, Cindy Gentry, Founder of the Downtown Phoenix Public Market, and Kurt Schneider, President of L.D. Schneider & Associates. The award honors the outstanding contributions of those who continue to advance the quality of life and further the renaissance of Phoenix’s Central City. Please see our previous post to learn more about the honorees.
Friends and family of the recipients filled the beautiful Steele Indian School Park Memorial Hall to honor these exceptional members of our community. The toasts and introductions of our awardees reminded us of their success stories. The University of Arizona’s second medical school, Arizona State’s Downtown Phoenix campus and the Translational Genomics Research Institute would not be downtown had it not be for the hard work of Dave Krietor. The Downtown Phoenix Public Market would not be providing fresh local foods and vegetables to our community without Cindy Gentry’s vision and Kurt Schnieder’s generosity. Their hard work adds to the patchwork that makes Phoenix’s Central City.
Again, we would like to send out our to congratulations David Krietor, Cindy Gentry, and Kurt Schneider. Thank you for preserving the rich heritage of the Central City!
